Great work man. I really liked how you intertwined the music with the interviews. The info at the end was great, but I'd just slow down the transition from slide to slide to give the viewer more of a chance to read it.
Great Job!! I think you really captured the essence of the RPM challenge. The transformation from your rough draft to this was amazing! I also loved your use of audio and the female vocalists songs.
GREAT JOB!!! What a difference from your rough draft! I really loved the female artist speaking and her music. I thought that in the end the stats on the bottom of the screen were too fast I wasnt able to read them all the way but I think those really gave you an idea of how big the competition/project was. It summed up a lot of questions for the reader. Awesome job!!!
Wow, a huge improvement over your last cut! The All Good :: Feel Good footage was an excellent addition and the video footage quality looks as if you cleaned it up a bit. The girl that you interviewed was a bit too quiet so I'd try enhancing the volume a bit. Also the ending picture montage was great but I think you should definitely slow it down since it was hard to read everything in such a slow amount of time. You should be proud, again what an improvement from last time!
Drew, From the last time we saw your project I think this version turned out great! You are definitely about to hear the people talking much more clearly now. Something that I think that is really minor that you should fix is near the end of the video. You have a lot of writing on the slides telling us some facts about the challenge..and the only thing I would suggest is to leave the writing on the screen a little bit longer because some of them went too fast before I could finish reading the rest of the sentence.. but maybe I just read slow..
This is a really interesting topic, you've got a lot of good information. The audio was a bit hard to hear, there was a lot of noise when they were talking. Other than that it was really good and you did a good job. I specifically like the breakdown at the end, I though that was a really cool way to conclude the event together. I've never heard of this thing before and I thought it was really cool.
The final draft looks awesome and really came far from your rough draft. I think your transitions are really good and the content of your video is much more focused. The video at some points isn't very clear and the sound can be a little foggy, but I can tell you did a lot of work on these parts to make them as clear as possible. Other than that, my only suggestions would be to maybe cut back a bit on the unclear parts and use more clear footage that you have now. Overall, great job and a lot of improvement!
"It's like an open mic for recorded music" - awesome get.
I liked the slow fall from top-down of the RPM Challenge: start with Bruce the creator, move to band, then to solo artist, then outward with facts at the end. I especially enjoyed the raw audio that captured the idea of a whole bunch of musicians being around each other.
The ending crawl could have been slower graphic-wise. Some of the graphics I couldn't read in the time allotted.
Great improvement from the rough draft, Drew! the new focus (the bands in the challenge rather than the challenge itself) is great. The intro was very cool, but the viewer didn't know what they were talking about. Maybe out some text or something that claims what the video focuses on so the viewer knows it is about a music challenge. I also really liked the broll with all the CDs. It was well placed. If you were to fix up the video, I would lower the background music when you are interviewing the female the musician. It was very loud and distracting. Also, the end of the video (with all the text and music) could have been so effective if you slowed it down. I barely had time to read half of what it said. Other than that good job, I really liked the content and the video. It makes the viewer want to go and check this out!
Great job on your final project, you can really see the progress you made from the rough draft! I think the strongest part of your project is the diverse group of people you interviewed and their unique stories of what brought them to RPM. I also really like what you did at the beginning of the project with the "RPM is..." and then hearing all different responses because it means different things to all different people as we saw from your video. I also liked the text & still images at the end giving statistics about RPM.
For me, the audio was a bit choppy and at some points I felt like the background music was competing with the interviewee's audio. This was a little distracting so if you have a chance to adjust that I think your project would really benefit from it. Other than that, great job on your project!!!
Drew - some very quirky and interesting people, great quotes and an overall cool topic. I wish I could have heard them more, though, because the audio was too low and the music too high. It felt like all of the sounds were competing with one another. I would have liked some text introducing each speaker, too. You had great info about the RPM challenge at the end, along with images, but I think you should use some of that in the beginning to set the tone, perhaps right after the montage of people talking about the challenge. I liked the one-word sum-ups though. Nice idea. Your shots of the woman in her living room and playing the piano were well-composed, and I really got a sense of her as an individual and a musician, surrounded by instruments and her daughter's toys. I wanted to buy her cd! A little more information about the challenge or the people involved (earlier in the piece) would make this even stronger. Good job :)
Another transformation and a good demonstration of mastering the software.
I loved the clever use of quick answers at the beginning, especially the "I didn't do shit" quote. Note the laughter you heard at that point--anytime you do that you have an audience who is suddenly completely on your side because they want more.
Love the jazz band music with the band onstage with the music then continuing in the background. That's cool.
Throughout the piece, the pace matches the vitality of the music.
One voice is lost because it is too quiet. Maybe three-quarters of the way through.
Piano player part is really cool, including those nice focus blur transitions.
What was that piece of art that appeared while she was talking?
Like a "space to experiment" quote.
Too quick on the words on the screen! I can't read that fast. Same with the credits. Slow it down.
Great job Drew :) Thanks for sharing this and enlightening me on the RMP challenge. I had no idea about this before you started working on this project. Also, it is really impressive how large this challenge is and how many people participate from all over the globe! I think you should take all the facts you have at the end, slow each slide down, and move them to the beginning. This would give the viewer a better idea about what this challenge is. I did like the little clips you had from peoples one liners on what the challenge was so perhaps after that add in those slides with the numbers of participants and such. You still have a few weeks before it is graded so I encourage you to get a little bit more :) Also, bummer about some of the quality in audio/video so I recommend taking it out so trying to get other interviews. This would add a lot of value and prove to be a really awesome piece of multimedia. All in all great job- you taught me about something I have never heard of and had my interest for the whole time so you did your job as a journalist. Peace :)
My comment from yesterday apparently didn't come through, so I'm rewriting. Great job overall, even from when I saw the video last! I thought that putting visuals of the All Good Feel Good Collective rehearsing over their audio interview was a great touch; they are an awesome band! I think it all came together really well, the entire video was very logical and fluid throughout, and you could really feel the vibe of the bands and the competition itself, which I think is essential.
A few things I would work on would be ducking the background audio even more for the singer-songwriter woman and boosting her voice. The background audio obscured her interview at times. Another thing would be to have the picture slides at the end be drawn out a little longer-it was sometimes difficult to read them. Overall, really excellent video!

*By slow amount of time, I meant quick. My bad!
